Martin Luna returned to Chile in 2003 after 10 years in the USA. During his stay in the US, Mr. Luna carried out diverse responsibilities in the head office of Salomon Brothers, Salomon Smith Barney and Citigroup, including Associate, Vice President and Director. During his tenure at Salomon, Mr. Luna assumed several responsibilities such as Generalist Associate in the Latin America Corporate Finance Group covering fixed income, equity and M&A transactions in the region (1995-97), Coverage Officer for Chile (1998), Vice President in the New York-based Execution Group for Latin America (1999), Head of the New York-based Execution Group for Latin America (2000) and Coverage Officer for Consumer Companies in Latin America, reporting jointly to the Latin America and Global Consumer Groups (2001-2002). In mid 2002, Mr. Luna leaves Salomon and returns to Chile in early 2003.
During his stay at Salomon Smith Barney Mr. Luna accumulated vast experience in products and countries, including having participated in the origination and execution of 14 equity mandates (6 completed), 17 fixed income mandates (14 completed) and 18 M&A mandates (12 completed). His experience includes mandates with companies in the following industries; telecom, media, real estate, power, pharmaceuticals, retail, conglomerates, banks, beverages, food, energy, paper&forestry, mining, steel, chemicals, industrial and water utilities; with clients in countries including Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, Peru, USA, France, Canada, Spain and the UK.
Prior to leaving to the US in 1993, M. Luna worked for 4 years in the local offices in Chile of Manufacturers Hanover Trust, Chemical Bank and Bank Boston, where he assumed diverse responsibilities in corporate banking.
Mr. Luna has a Commercial Engineering degree from Universidad de Chile, with a Licentiate in Economics – 1988 and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Stanford University – 1995.
